But if you change it to:
“They’re brothers. That’s why Bert has to put up with Ernie.”
Doesn’t that make just as much sense?

Tell someone by the name of Catherine Wayne that she’s not “sticking to the boxxy persona” and she will get pissed; she made that character and she doesn’t want other people’s noses in her character trying to make edits. It’s kinda like that, but on a larger scale. Don’t change someone else’s character.
